Mental Health and Wellness Across the Lifespan
There is no denying the importance of mental health. When our mental health is high, we handle stress and life challenges better, we are more resilient in the face of change, and we are better able to recognize and appreciate the experiences that bring joy to our lives. On the other hand, when our mental health is poor, challenges become harder to deal with, change can paralyze and defeat us, and joy can seem to disappear.
Does any of this sound familiar? The good news is that mental health, just like physical health, can improve if you work to take care of it. If you’re here, it’s probably because you’ve identified something in your life you aren’t satisfied with and you’re ready to try something new. That urge to do something different will be the key to your success, if you only nurture it. I’d love to help you do that.

Psychotherapy
While it is possible to improve and maintain your mental health on your own, this isn’t always the most effective way of doing things. Family and friends are important parts of maintaining a sense of well-being, but if they are part of the problem, they may not be the best source of advice or support. In times like this, seeing a professional counsellor may offer a perspective that is unbiased, but unreservedly in your corner.
Mental health professionals like myself are trained in a variety of modalities and techniques that can help you figure out where you want to go with your life, and how to get there. Importantly, our work is person-centred, meaning you, your needs, and your values take centre stage. Your journey is unique, and our work together will be collaboratively tailored to meet your goals.

Life Transitions
Being an adult can sometimes seem like an unending stream of new challenges, whether you’re 21 or 75. What’s more, in an ever changing and complex world, it can be hard to not only make good decisions, but to even know what your options are. Even once a decision is made, there can be consequences that were unexpected, or simply overwhelming. Knowing who we are, what we value, and how we want to interact with the world around us is an ongoing, evolving process that can sometimes benefit from an outside perspective.

Vanessa Coady, RCC
Health and well-being has been a central tenet of my life for over a decade now, initially as a Registered Massage Therapist, and now as Registered Clinical Counsellor. My history as a health care professional has informed my counselling in that I believe any challenge we encounter will see impacts in our emotions, our thoughts, and our physical body. By tuning into all three, we can turn signs of distress into sources of insight, and as resources for strength, self-soothing, and emotional management.
